Hard Truck: Apocalypse [Game Download] Review
This odd re-vamped idea of Hard Truck'n USA is a romp in the woods free roaming game(in other words, you do not need a road to drive on). This is also story driven, yet the story is the run-of-the-mill southern texas ethics of vengence on the "evils" who killed your family type plot. You go out for Pa as your an "adult" who can do "anything you want to except not obey the ole guy". You return from a series of short missions and one from him to find your farm in flames! Vengence is yours! I'll not go further to spoil the plot(wasn't much there to "spoil" in the prologue anyway...).
as for gameplay, you just go around shooting those who assail you and buy/sell like in the Hard Truck series also you can upgrade your truck in three ways, either the cab, the bed, or the whole thing(as in buying a new truck) cabs give you horse power and added wieght if it is a big engine the bed gives you capacity, armour rating and also a lot more wieght too. One astectically cool thing about this is physics, you can see your driveshaft turning as you go down the road and in accordence to engine speed and ratio, not just wheel spin, yet oddly all trucks must be 4x4 as your front wheels turn in the sand as do the rear. Either that or it is a sloppy physics design.(but no biggie!) another cool(and satisfying thing) is when you blow your enemies truck bodies off, you can see thier engines' fan/belt systems still turning to the deisle sound as if a heart beating after death.
the music: well, in a word, it sux!(always wanted to write a short review saying that on amazon)
I give this game a middle rating yet it is not unfun nor necessarly a "bad" game.
